Deities, Elements, and Connotations

This post is mostly going to be a compilation of some of my notes regarding the pantheon of my world. I will be doing a second post expounding on some of topics presented here.

The One

THE ONE gives rise to THE THREE; THE THREE give rise to THE SIX; THE SIX give rise to the world. THE ONE is both beyond existence and the meaning of existence itself. It is unification of the world unto THE SIX; THE SIX unto THE THREE; and THE THREE unto THE ONE.

THE ONE is the source of all power; it is that from which all souls spring, and that unto which they shall return. THE ONE is unity; THE ONE is the highest form of individuality. Nothing happens beyond its will, but it holds no plans for the world. It is sovereignty; it is anarchy; it is democracy; it is totalitarianism. It pervades every facet of life, observing and oblivious to itself or its macrocosm of elements, as though in a waking-dream, executing all things in perfectly organized chaos.

The Three

THE THREE are elements of THE ONE. They are not two; they are not one; they are not four. They are THE THREE and THE ONE; THE ONE and THE THREE. THE SIX are of THE THREE, and THE THREE are comprised of THE SIX.

They are named as such:
• THE ETHEREAL THIRD
• THE ADAMANTINE THIRD
• THE METAMORPHIC THIRD

THE SIX are subject, just as all else on the mortal plane, by the laws of nature; however, they are far from powerless. They are bound by their metaphysical relationships to each other, and the world, but are free to manipulate what falls within their lot. Each of THE THREE, containing two of THE SIX, exemplify these relationships; however, THE THREE are a distinct entity from the two they are comprised of, just as each of THE THREE is distinct from THE ONE.

The amount of power THE ONE, and thus THE THREE, holds is eternally stable; however, its distribution is constantly changing; this is Heaven's Flux. The members of THE THREES hold an inverse relationship with their diametric opposite; as one grows more powerful, the other grows weaker, yet THE THIRD, in total, remains stable. As a deity climbs in power, its Flux grows and affects the world more severely, for good or for bad.

It is not impossible for one of THE SIX to die, or be rendered powerless; in such cases, the other half of their THIRD grows unfathomably powerful, with access to the full potential of their element, and able to remake the world in their image. This has happened before, and it, almost assuredly, will happen again, erasing life as we know it and installing new gods upon their thrones; such is the cycle of the world.

The Six

THE SIX are elements of THE ONE. They are not five; they are not one; they are not seven. They are THE SIX and THE ONE; THE ONE and THE SIX. THE SIX are THE THREE, and THE THREE are each ONE that is TWO.

They are called as thus:

  • WOTEK, TURNER OF THE TIDE
  • SOFIA, EMPRESS OF FLAME
  • MATEUSZ, BREATH OF WINDS
  • EMILA, MAIDEN OF ALL
  • ANNELLE, MOTHER OF THE WORLD
  • SZYMON, LORD OF THE HUNT

Each of THE SIX are mortal magicians who have ascended to become incarnations of the six fundamental elements of magic. They are paired with another, who represents their diametric opposite; these pairings make up THE THREE.

An important note worth making is that THE SIX paradoxically exist as THE ONE, THE THREE, and THE SIX simultaneously--forever joined at the highest conceptual level, but splintered into fragments the closer you examine them, each aspect of themselves clamoring for its own domain; the avatars listed above are the greatest common denominator between broad and distinct that the mortal mind can comprehend.
